Introduction

Facebook Connect allows web developers to leverage the Facebook social application for their own off-Facebook applications. This tutorial will walk you through setting up a new Facebook application for use with Connect, as well as a couple examples that demonstrate how to use the Javascript API.

Step 1

Setting up a new Facebook Application

You first need a Facebook Platform API key for your site. Follow these steps to create an application with the Facebook Developer application.

Go to http://www.facebook.com/developers/createapp.php to create a new application. You must be logged into Facebook to create an app.
Enter a name for your application in the Application Name field.
Accept the Developer Terms of Service, then click Save Changes.
On the Basic tab, keep all of the defaults, except enter a Callback URL. This URL should point to the top-level directory of the site which will be implementing Facebook Connect (this is usually your domain, e.g. http://www.example.com, but could also be a subdirectory).
Take note of the API Key and Secret Key, you'll need them to access Facebook Connect.
Click the Connect tab. You should include a logo that appears on the Facebook Connect dialog. Next to Facebook Connect Logo, click Change your Facebook Connect logo and browse to an image file. The logo can be up to 99 pixels wide by 22 pixels tall, and must be in JPG, GIF, or PNG format.
If your site is going to implement Facebook Connect across a number of subdomains of your site (for example, foo.example.com and bar.example.com), you need to enter a Base Domain (which would be example.com in this case). Specifying a base domain allows you to make calls using the PHP and JavaScript client libraries as well as get and store session information for any subdomain of the base domain. For more information about subdomains, see Supporting Subdomains In Facebook Connect.
Click Save Changes.

Step 2

Create Cross-Domain Communication Channel File

You will need to create a cross-domain communication channel file called xd_receiver.htm and place it in a directory relative to the callback URL.

For example, let's say you're using http://www.example.com/ as your callback URL, but you want to store your Facebook Connect files in their own subdirectory, sayhttp://www.example.com/connect. You should create the xd_receiver.htm file in the directory from where you'll be serving your Connect Web pages (http://www.example.com/connect in our example).

Below is an example of a cross-domain channel file ...

You have the option of calling the file anything you want as long as you specify the correct file name in the FB.init method.

The quickest way to start using Facebook Connect on your server is to use the Javascript API library.

The two essential properties of connecting to the library are setting the correct document type

In order to test this on your own server, you will need to replace your API key in the code above. As you can see there are some strange tags in the code like, <fb:login-button>, this is an xfbml tag that is rendered by the FB Connect Javascript library. For a list of all the supported xfbml tags check out this link. If your xfbml is not rendering correctly, you either have not entered the correct Doctype or have a typo in your FB.init or Connect library include lines.

Step 5

Setting up a Template Bundle

You can also post stories to a user's profile feed, however you will need to first register a template bundle id here. A template bundle tells facebook how to display the data that you are sending to the feed. An application can have multiple Template Bundles as well as supports 'one line stories', a slightly longer 'short story', and a more verbose 'full story'. You can post links and images to feed stories as well.

Here is a very simple example of a one line story ...

"Actor" is the name of the user and "Statement" will be the story that you are posting.

Setting Extended Permissions

You can also use the Facebook Connect JS API for other activities like updating a user's status or posting feed stories while the user is offline. The current extended permissions are email, offline_access, status_update, photo_upload, create_listing, create_event, rsvp_event, sms, video_upload, create_note, share_item.

Once the permission has been accepted, you might want to use a callback function that reloads the page.

Si bien la última versión de Ubuntu (9.04) no alcanzo a incluir la recién salida del horno OpenOffice 3.1, esto no es mayor problema, ya que se encuentra disponible en el repositorio de Launchpad (PPA) para que agregando un par de lineas tengas lo último de la suite ofimática libre por excelencia.

Las instrucciones sirver para Ubuntu 8.04 – 8.10 – 9.04 y debes hacer los siguiente:

1) Sistema – Administración – Origenes del software y en la pestaña Software de terceros dar clic al boton añadir. Ahí agregas las siguientes líneas (una a la vez):

Para hardy (8.04):

Para intrepid (8.10):

b) luego de eso debemos recargar nuestra lista de repositorios y actualizar el sistema (para que se actualice Openoffice), para ello copia la siguiente línea en la misma terminal:

Services are added from the Command Prompt. You need to know the actual service name as opposed to what Microsoft calls the Display Name. For example, if you wanted to create or delete the Help and Support service, the name used at the Command Prompt would be "helpsvc" rather than the Display Name of "Help and Support". The actual service name can be obtained by typing services.msc in Run on the Start Menu and then double clicking the Display Name of the service. Once you know the name;

WebSPHINX - WebSPHINX ( Website-Specific Processors for HTML INformation eXtraction) is a Java class library and interactive development environment for web crawlers. A web crawler (also called a robot or spider) is a program that browses and processes Web pages automatically. WebSPHINX consists of two parts: the Crawler Workbench and the WebSPHINX class library.
Nutch - Nutch provides a transparent alternative to commercial web search engines. As of June, 2003, we have successfully built a 100 million page demo system. Uses Lucene for its indexing, however provides its own Crawler implementation.
WebLech - WebLech is a fully featured web site download/mirror tool in Java, which supports many features required to download websites and emulate standard web-browser behaviour as much as possible. WebLech is multithreaded and will feature a GUI console.
Arale - While many bots around are focused on page indexing, Arale is primarly designed for personal use. It fits the needs of advanced web surfers and web developers.

Metis - Metis is a tool to collect information from the content of web sites. This was written for the Ideahamster Group for finding the competitive intelligence weight of a web server and assists in satisfying the CI Scouting portion of the Open Source Security Testing Methodology Manual (OSSTMM).
SimpleSpider - The simple spider is a real application to provide the search capability for DevelopMentor's web site. It is also an example application, for classroom use learning about open source programming with Java.
Grunk - Grunk (for GRammar UNderstanding Kernel) is a library for parsing and extracting structured metadata from semi-structured text formats. It is based on a very flexible parsing engine capable of detecting a wide variety of patterns in text formats and extracting information from them. Formats are described in a simple and powerful XML configuration from which Grunk builds a parser at runtime, so adapting Grunk to a new format does not require a coding or compilation step. Not really a crawler, but something that may prove extremely useful in crawling.
CAPEK - CAPEK is an Open Source robot entirely written in Java. It gathers web pages for EGOTHOR in a sophisticated way. The pages are ordered by their pagerank, stability of the connection between Capek and the respective web-site, and many other factors.
Aperture - Aperture crawls information systems such as file systems, websites, mail boxes and mail servers. It can extract full-text and metadata from many common file formats. Aperture has a flexible architecture that can be extended with custom file formats, data sources, etc., with support for deployment on OSGi platforms.
Smart and Simple Web Crawler - A framework thats crawls a web site with integrated Lucene support. Support two crawling modes, Max Iterations and Max Depth. Provides a filter interface to limit the links to be crawled. Filters can be combined with AND, OR and NOT.
Web Harvest - Web-Harvest collects Web pages and extracts useful data from them. It leverages technologies for text/xml manipulation such as XSLT, XQuery and Regular Expressions. Web-Harvest mainly focuses on HTML/XML based web sites. However it can be extended by custom Java libraries to augment its extraction capabilities.

Very late reply but none the less !

Here are the steps to acheive what you require and overcome the issues cited by other members.

Create a PHP function "parse_url()
1. Access the URL using the file() function
1. Download an existing HTML parser from phpclasses.org (particularly the one that converts HTML to a PHP array and extract all the href elements from A tags.)
Store the content of the HTML and the URL into a database. Keep another column to store "last_updated_on" as NOW().
Store ALL the extracted URLs with last_updated_on as NULL.
Then use another funtion to extract all URLs from the database that have last_updated_on as NULL and run parse_url() on each of the URLs.

Notes

The above will not be able to crawl any javascript links.
To crawl image maps you will need to use the HTML2Array class again to extract the SRC element in IMAGE tags.
To overcome the time limit issues either use set_time_limit() function OR run the PHP file from windows/linux command line

To further improve the efficiency of your crawlers read about
1. FullText Search MATCH()
2. strip_html() function
3. HowTo store BLOB in compressed cells in MySQL.

XDebug - Netbeans 6.5 - PHP - XAMPP

1 – Open http://localhost/xampp/index.php and select phpinfo() to see what version of php are you using.

2 – Download the correct x-debug file from http://www.xdebug.org/download.php. This is very important, a wrong file will broke xdebug.

3 – Save this file In "C:\Archivos de programa\xampp\php\ext\php_xdebug-2.0.3-5.2.5.dll" or where you have xampp installed.

4 – Open to xampp\apache\bin\php.ini and open php.ini.

5 – Find [Zend] and comment with ";" all the entries bellow "[Zend]".

6 – Copy the following code

zend_extension_ts="C:\Archivos de programa\xampp\php\ext\php_xdebug-2.0.3-5.2.5.dll"

xdebug.remote_enable=On

xdebug.remote_host="localhost"

xdebug.remote_port=9000

7 – Modify "zend_extension_ts" with the correct value.

8 – Restart apache.

9 – Check the installation. Go to PhpInfo() and you will see
